Summary

At M&S, we're transforming the way we operate through innovation, automation and smarter decision-making. As Finance Manager – Stock, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our global stock finance processes are best-in-class, providing the insight, governance and control that support one of the UK's most iconic retailers.

Leading a team of dedicated finance professionals, you'll own and continuously improve end-to-end stock finance processes, driving automation, simplification and operational excellence. Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, Digital & Technology and Operations, you'll help deliver a more efficient, data-driven and customer-focused future for M&S.

 

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include:

Lead and develop a high-performing team, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional business partner service.

Own the end-to-end stock finance process, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, effective reconciliations and a seamless period-end close.

Drive automation and process improvement initiatives, reducing manual activity and enhancing efficiency, control and colleague experience.

Partner with team members across the business to resolve complex stock-related issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.

Generate actionable insights from financial and operational data, helping improve stock management, working capital performance and business decision-making.

 

Who you are

Your skills will include:

Qualified Accountant with strong knowledge of stock accounting, Record to Report processes and financial controls.

Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and inspire teams to deliver outstanding results.

Strong process improvement approach, with experience crafting, standardising and optimising end-to-end finance processes.

Excellent analytical and systems capability,

Proficient in SAP

Excel and finance technologies such as Power BI, BlackLine or automation tools.

Confident business partner management and communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and build strong relationships across Finance and non-Finance teams.
