About the role
The Dyson School of Design Engineering is seeking a highly organised and proactive Staff and Finance Administrator to support the administration of staff and research finance within the School. This is a varied and collaborative role, working closely with the Senior Staff and Finance Administrator, Research and Finance Manager, Academic Staff, and wider administrative teams.
You will act as a key point of contact for staff and finance-related queries, ensuring a professional, customer-focused service. The role requires a strong understanding of HR and finance processes, compliance requirements, and the ability to communicate policies clearly and effectively.

What you would be doing
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Administration
Support and administer all aspects of the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with policies and data protection regulations
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes
Deliver engaging inductions for research staff and support onboarding across the School
Act as the first point of contact for staff and visitors, resolving or escalating queries as needed
Support processes relating to fixed-term contracts, contingent workers, visiting staff, and casual workers
Promote and uphold Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and data protection compliance
Research and Finance
Support compliance with founder policies, including audit requirements
Maintain accurate financial records, databases, and reporting systems
Administrate project timesheets and ensure timely and compliant submissions
Assist with staff costings to manage budgets effectively and prevent over/underspend
Identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency across finance systems
What we are looking for
You will be educated to degree level or have relevant equivalent experience and have experienced in administrative roles, ideally within HR and / or finance in higher education.
You will have the ability to report financial information to financial and non-financial staff and will be:
highly organised with excellent attention to detail,
a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills,
able to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities, and
adaptable and willing to learn.
