Job description
About the role
Imperial College London is undertaking an ambitious, organisation‑wide transformation of our professional services, digital and physical environment to ensure they continue to support our world‑leading research and education. Join the Transformation Team and be at the heart of it.
What you would be doing
Join Imperial College London as a Business Analyst within the Transformation Team. Operating in a matrix environment, you will focus on improving the value delivered to students, faculty and researchers across key service journeys. You will analyse and shape end‑to‑end experiences, turning user insight into measurable improvements and better outcomes. Throughout the design lifecycle, you will develop evidence‑based options that inform strategic decisions and support successful delivery.
Gather and synthesise user needs — run interviews, workshops and observational research to capture problems and priorities.
Define clear, testable requirements — convert insight into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that steer solution design and delivery.
Map and design processes — create as‑is and to‑be process maps and value flows that reveal improvement opportunities.
Shape solutions— work with architects, developers and service owners to validate designs and participate in acceptance testing.
Deliver decision‑ready artefacts — produce concise analysis, options appraisals, and data that enable informed choices.
Investigate complex issues — deep‑dive into ad‑hoc business problems, identify root causes and recommend pragmatic, evidence‑based solutions.
What we are looking for
We want to work with someone who combines intellectual rigour with practical curiosity and clear communication. You will demonstrate:
Proven experience in business analysis, service design or a closely related role, ideally within complex organisations.
Strong stakeholder skills — able to engage confidently at all levels and across functions.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving ability, with attention to data and measurable outcomes.
Experience documenting processes and producing artefacts that support decision‑making.
A collaborative, adaptable approach — comfortable working in a changing environment and delivering to tight timelines.
Commitment to inclusive practice and clear, accessible communication.
You will be expected to work flexibly across teams, producing high‑quality outputs that support programme decisions and delivery. Please see the full job description for further detail.
What we can offer you
The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
