Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Student Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator to join our Student Recruitment, Outreach & Events team within Marketing, Recruitment & Communications (MRC). This role will provide maternity cover for an established member of the team and is expected to be available from late November 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering Bournemouth University’s student recruitment, outreach and widening participation activity, working directly with prospective students, schools, colleges and other key influencers to inspire and support young people as they consider their future options.
You will coordinate and deliver a varied programme of workshops, presentations, events and other activities for a range of audiences, both on campus and in schools, colleges and other external settings. You will represent BU locally, regionally and nationally, providing engaging and accessible information about higher education and the opportunities available at Bournemouth University.
Alongside delivery, you will take responsibility for specific events and projects, working with colleagues and external partners to plan activity from initial concept through to successful delivery. You will build strong relationships with schools, colleges and other stakeholders and help ensure our programme remains responsive to the needs of our audiences and aligned with the University’s student recruitment and widening participation priorities.
We are looking for someone with strong communication, presentation and organisational skills, experience of delivering engaging activities for children or young people, and the confidence to build effective relationships with a wide range of people. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, taking ownership of projects and adapting your approach to different audiences and situations.
Experience of student recruitment, outreach, widening participation, education or events would be beneficial, but most importantly you will bring enthusiasm for working with young people, a commitment to safeguarding and excellent service, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
This is a varied and hands-on role which will involve regular travel and some evening and weekend working. It would suit someone who enjoys combining direct engagement with young people with event and project delivery, and who is motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to students’ choices and their journey into higher education.
