Job description

This role operates as a Senior Management Accountant within our Propulsion function, supporting multiple business units with strategic insight, financial governance, and performance management. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working as part of a small, agile finance team, the position plays a key role in driving financial planning and supporting business decision-making.

The Role: 

  • Business partner to stakeholders to understand different areas of the company and support on all financial aspects of the business.
  • Own financial performance reporting for allocated business units, including weekly outlooks, variance analysis and forward‑looking risk assessment.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, quarterly forecasts and multi‑year plans, including scenario and sensitivity modelling Complete a full management accounts process within 3 working days working closely with finance colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Present clear, concise financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership and Directors, influencing commercial and strategic outcomes.
  • Full involvement with finance activity for year-end and interim audits interfacing with external auditors.
  • Maintain full ownership of allocated balance sheets, ensuring strong governance, reconciliation discipline and control Preparation of quarterly forecasts and multi-year plans for the P&L and modelling of financial statements.
  • Own the capital expenditure governance framework, including business case challenge, approval tracking and post‑investment return on investment analysis.
  • Identify and address challenges proactively.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls and reporting quality.
  • Carry out assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile: 

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Experience of using SAP is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, technically complex environment.
  • Advanced analytical capability, with strong financial modelling and commercial insight.
  • Excellent organisation and time management.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
