Through its four interconnected pillars: building skills and partnerships; generating data and knowledge; linking knowledge, policy and practice; and innovating through funding - the Hub strengthens adaptation capacity, produces and translates research into actionable evidence, supports policy responses to emerging climate challenges, and funds innovative, community focused and place-based approaches. Together, this work aims to enable a more equitable, evidence led and climate resilient UK.

Working closely with the MACC Hub Manager and Lead, the post holder will be responsible for independently driving all communications activities and plans for the MACC Hub. The postholder will work autonomously to develop and deliver communications initiatives, and ensure effective dissemination of the Hub’s work, key insights, and outputs to a broad range of stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, and practitioners across the UK, and beyond.

The role will include working closely with Hub consortium and external partners to maintain a cohesive narrative around the Hub and its achievements, helping to maximise the impact, legacy and uptake of MACC outputs as we move towards the final phase of the Hub in 2027.

We are particularly interested in candidates with technical knowledge of climate change adaptation – as we strive to increase meaningful public engagement on adaptation, drawing on Hub insights.

In joining the MACC Hub, the post holder will become part of a dynamic and high-profile UK-wide network of adaptation scholars and practitioners. They will work closely with the Stockholm Environment Institute who manage and maintain the MACC Hub website, and with the climate communication NGO Climate Outreach who have developed key messaging on adaptation. On a day-to-day basis, the post-holder will benefit from working alongside the comms team at the School of Global affairs research office.

The post holder will be able to work as part of King’s hybrid working model (Strand Campus). This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term 1 year contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Demonstrable experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, knowledge exchange, or public affairs roles

2.      Knowledge and understanding of climate adaptation, resilience, environmental policy, or a related field

3.      Strong experience drafting a range of materials (including but not limited to newsletters, presentations, social media posts and press releases)

4.      Experience working independently or as a sole communications professional, managing competing priorities and delivering across multiple channels.

5.      Experience translating complex technical content into clear, accessible communications for non-specialist audiences.

6.      Experience organising events such as workshops, seminars and conferences (virtual and in person)

7.      Excellent written and oral communication skills

8.      A commitment to a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias

Desirable criteria

1.      Competency in data visualization tools or reporting dashboards

2.      Experience working in multidisciplinary environments and collaborating effectively across teams and departments

3.      Experience engaging, influencing, and collaborating with senior stakeholders and external partners to shape and deliver MACC’ s communications objectives.
