Job description
Pharmaron is currently looking to recruit a proactive and detail-driven Purchasing and Stores Manager to join our Cardiff site. In this key role, you’ll lead the delivery of purchasing, stores, and administrative services to ensure the smooth and compliant operation of our facility. You’ll be responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels, managing supplier performance, and supporting site-wide operations through robust administrative processes.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead end‑to‑end purchasing activities, including POs, supplier onboarding, negotiations, and performance management, ensuring full ISO compliance.
- Oversee site stores and inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and ensure continuous supply of quality materials.
- Manage chemical and consumable supply, ensuring safe storage, accurate stock control, and effective Kanban systems.
- Deliver efficient site administration, including records management, archiving, and coordination of client-owned materials.
- Support CAPEX projects through project setup, documentation control, and sourcing competitive quotations.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with company standards, ESG requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Ensure all processes are compliant, efficient, and aligned with SOPs, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards.
- Support audits (internal, ISO, customer) by providing accurate, timely documentation.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive value through supplier optimisation and strategic sourcing.
- Provide a professional front-of-house experience for visitors and clients.
- Champion company values and promote sustainable, ethical procurement practices.
Candidate Profile
Education:
- CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) - Required
- Degree-level education, preferably in a scientific discipline – Desirable
- Archivist experience – Desirable
Experience:
- Proven track record in a similar purchasing/stores leadership role
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Proficiency in ERP, purchasing, and stock control systems
- Excellent procurement and negotiation abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office
