The Devonshire Group comprises the interests, charities and businesses in the care of the Devonshire family throughout the UK and Ireland. These include the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire, Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire, The Compton Estate in Eastbourne and Lismore Castle in Ireland. There are a wide variety of business functions, including hospitality, visitor attractions and estate management.
The Project Management Office (PMO) is a central function based in the Chatsworth Estate which provides governance guidelines, portfolio and project delivery support for cross-group business change projects.
The PMO supports a number of group-wide business change initiatives, which could include core systems changes such as EPOS, Property Management, HR, Ticketing, Memberships, CRM, Finance, and also a number of business change projects such as the Celebrating the Cascade National Lottery Heritage Fund supported restoration project, rolling out ‘Information Management’ principles and processes across the group, and general process improvement (Lean Six Sigma) change initiatives.
Purpose of Post
Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for a role that has a direct impact on business improvement through change in an organisation that is in an active transformation period?
This post will support the Devonshire Group with delivery of three of these cross-group projects over the next eight months. Two of them are system implementations that form part of the Devonshire Group’s modernisation and efficiency improvement strategies. The projects are in-flight, and will require detailed and hands-on project management – taking them both from system purchase and contract to implementation.
The first project is to implement a group-wide EPOS system replacement - including stock management, gift vouchers and other related systems/functions.
The second will implement a group-wide property management system replacement, potentially also including related functions such as repairs and maintenance, health & safety and contractor management.
The third project will be one of our non-systems projects supporting the business through cross-functional project management – co-ordinating with several internal and external stakeholders and workstreams, owning the central project budget, master programme, project dependencies and stakeholder updates.
This is a full-time, hybrid working eight-month contract based out of the Chatsworth Estate office with the possibility to extend.
About you
To succeed in this role you must be able to combine great Project Management skills with excellent stakeholder management and a thorough knowledge of software system implementations.
You will have recent relevant experience on system implementation projects in a diverse organisation with multiple systems and stakeholders and small project teams. You will have excellent organisation skills, and the ability to keep the project teams on track with guidance and support, and hands-on involvement where necessary. You will have empathy and awareness of operational business team priorities and pressures and relish the challenge of navigating the path to deliver a successful project with positive engagement of all involved.
First stage interviews will take place on 3rd June, second stage interviews will take place on 10th June 2026.
