Join our team as a Technical Advice Specialist and become an invaluable partner to our Wealth Managers. In this role, you'll be at the heart of the RBCBD Client Advice team, providing expert guidance that empowers our advisors to deliver outstanding, compliant advice to our clients. Your deep technical knowledge across planning, tax, and regulatory matters will be the backbone supporting our team – ensuring every client receives holistic, practical solutions tailored to their unique needs. RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

 

What will you do?

Prepare and presents practical case studies to illustrates technical concepts and supports learning and development

Provide technical support across investments, pensions, tax, and estate planning to Wealth Managers

Act as subject matter expert on client cases, reviewing proposed advice strategies and ensuring regulatory compliance

Design and deliver training including online clinics, in-person sessions, and national briefings to support ongoing upskilling

Maintain quality assurance standards to ensure all advice aligns with regulatory requirements and internal governance

Interpret budget and legislative changes to develop case studies that help Wealth Managers advise clients on planning opportunities

Work with third-party providers to deliver specialist training on products and regulatory updates

Build strong cross-functional relationships with Regional Centre Heads, Heads of Office, Wealth Managers, and support teams, acting as trusted technical coach

Work closely with Wealth Managers to utilise cashflow modelling effectively, helping ensure client plans are aligned with their goal

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Strong technical knowledge of financial planning, pensions, tax, investments, and estate planning with understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks

Experience in wealth management or private banking delivering or supporting financial advice

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships, coach, and influence colleagues effectively

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality

Ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it clearly for diverse audiences

Experience with cashflow modelling tools (highly desirable)

The RQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent

Chartered or working towards Chartered status (e.g., CII/ CISI) preferred

Relevant specialist qualifications are advantageous

Proven industry experience
